Kathy Powers Receives the 2025 Red Shoe Award

We are honored to announce Kathy Powers as our Red Shoe Award recipient for 2025!
Kathy joined CCS in 1996 and has chaired events, assisted with Vision Screening, and led Membership. Kathy has co-chaired Layettes for 20 years, serving as the contact person for the agencies and hospitals we support. Her husband, Tom, also has been incredibly helpful and supportive. She encourages provisionals to participate in our signature project.

Additionally, she has been an integral member of Second Saturday, coordinating many of our monthly meals. Kathy even finds time to offer ideas and help create art projects for our moms.

She is a dedicated CCS volunteer with a passion for serving God’s children, always willing to pitch in wherever needed with enthusiasm and humility. Join us in celebrating Kathy Powers and her remarkable contributions to the Christ Child Society of Milwaukee!

From Kathy: “I was so excited to be chosen for the Red Shoe Award! I am so happy to join this great group of giving members of CCS! Thank you!”

The Christ Child Society of Milwaukee presented the first Red Shoe Award in 1968. This award is inspired by a poem by Marie Mertel Ugarsky titled “The Red Shoes,” which describes two women committed to serving God in their own unique ways. Our first recipient was Angie Kopf, and now, 57 years later, we continue to honor exceptional women in CCS for their leadership, active membership, and dedicated service.
