Models on the Move Fashion Show Brings CCS Mission to the Runway

The Christ Child Society of Milwaukee recently hosted a special one-time fall fundraiser, Models on the Move, bringing fellowship, fashion and our mission together in a joyful afternoon of support for children and families in need.

Nearly 250 guests attended the luncheon on Wednesday, September 16, at the Wisconsin Country Club. The highlight of the day was the fashion show, featuring clothing and accessories from the Christ Child Society Resale Shop, located at 4033 W Good Hope Road, Milwaukee.

Mary Cento served as emcee for the afternoon. CCS co-presidents Julie Steinhafel and Mary Mertens opened the program, with Julie offering a warm welcome and Mary leading the prayer. Guests enjoyed beautiful centerpieces created by Terri Maciejewski featuring cheerful mums nestled in bubble wrap and “fragile” marked boxes – a playful nod to the moving theme – and included thumb drives donated by C.H. Coakley.  Several tables joined in friendly competition to raise additional funds by bidding on the centerpieces, 

The event offered many ways for guests to participate and support CCS. The chocolate pull sold out, more than two-thirds of the jewelry was purchased, and many purses and scarves found new homes. Silent raffle items generated strong interest, and the 50/50 raffle was a lively success. Guests lunched on chicken salad and chocolate cake, making the afternoon both festive and memorable. Proceeds will support CCS programs that serve children and families throughout the Milwaukee area.

The Christ Child Society of Milwaukee is an all-volunteer organization that embraces members of all faiths who are dedicated to expressing their love of the Christ Child through service to all God’s children. We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and have served children in Southeastern Wisconsin since 1948. Our primary focus is clothing newborns and providing additional services that follow the child and nurture youth in the Greater Milwaukee area.
